The budgeting app I use

Updated: Feb 23, 2022

Hey all! In this post, I talk about doing a 'digit tally,' --keeping track of your expenses as a way to prepare for starting to invest. Did you try it? how did it go? I did that with google sheets for a year, and it was so helpful.

Today, I'd like to share with you the app that I use to keep track of my expenses now. It's called... You Need a Budget, or YNAB for short, and it's really useful. The first 34 days are free, and they have a bunch of online classes to teach you how to use it.

The two main ideas are: only budget dollars you actually have, and make categories of what's most important to you. It's very empowering and freeing. If food matters most to you, (good food matters a lot to me!) then make that category bigger, and make another category that matters less to you (for me, it's clothes) less. My food budget is 10 times my clothing budget! doh!

I think the product is great. Let me know if you try it? (and by the way, I'm not an affiliate or anything. I just use their product and think it's the best tool of its kind that I have found.) Happy Budgeting!
