What is Investing?

Hi!

If you’re interested in learning how to make your money work for you, you’ve come to the right place. I’ll be writing bite-sized bits of info for anyone who wants to learn the basics of investing. Let’s dive right in.

Investing is putting your money to work, so that it can start to earn money for you. It means choosing a company or product that wants financial support, and giving it money, with the hope and expectation that it will make that money grow. Investing always comes with the risk that you won’t get your money back.

Some things you can invest in: property, gold, small businesses, the stock market. There are newer investments that are popular now: NFTs and Cryptocurrencies—those are beyond the scope of this post, but perhaps I’ll tackle them in a later blog.

In the meantime, please post in the comments: have you ever tried investing? How did it go? And if you haven’t, what do you think might be holding you back?

Thanks for reading this!
