Repair...Reparations.

Freedom and independence are beautiful concepts, but what does it take for those things to be a lived experience?
I am personally working on repairing mistakes I have made as a parent, which is very humbling. Hearing my kids' experiences that harmed them when they were younger, is incredibly painful. AND yet what could be more important than accountability, course correcting and being available to make things right?

The same is true for our country. We turn 250 tomorrow. A birthday is a good time to reflect on the past and look forward to the future. My last post on Reparations is here.
A wonderful organization called Liberation Ventures has launched a campaign called Repair-is.org where we can all look at both our individual need for repair, AND what our country owes to the descendants of American chattel slavery.

I believe reparations are possible. I believe it's important. I know in my family, we won't grow until we deal with the past, take accountabilty and do the hard work to heal.
Ditto with the USA, because:
"Nobody's free until everybody's free"
legendary civil rights activist Fannie Lou Hamer
Amen and Asé.
And here's an analysis of what those 40 acres and a mule in 1865 in Florida, South Carolina and Georgia would be worth today...
What is your experience with repair? What do you think of reparations? Let me know in the comments, And as always, thanks for reading this.
