Visiting the Obama Presidential Center on Juneteenth and Opening Week was a top 10 highlight of my life.

Happy Father's Day, Happy Solstice, and Happy Juneteenth Weekend!

I have no words to describe how incredible the OPC was when I visited this past week. I knew that it would inspire and reinvigorate me, and it DID. Please be sure to watch Mrs. Obama's love letter to her husband--every word she said was TRUE.

President Obama's speech was just what I needed to hear as well. You can find it HERE.

The main takeaway for me was: America is not perfect, and it has always been two steps forward, one step back. But we can't give up hope, and we each need to decide how we want to do our part to help our country live up to its ideals. President Obama talked about the Civil War. We say that our country is divided now, but it has never been more divided than when some Americans' ancestors were enslaved by other Americans' ancestors...

That was worse. At least for anyone who didn't meet the very narrow definition of 'American Citizen' back then.

We got through that. We will get through this.

For me, teaching financial fluency to the first time African American stock market investor feels like something I was born to do. Everytime someone tells me that what they have learned from me has changed how they handle their money, who tell me what their trading account is now worth compared to when they started learning with me, every time someone's eyes show me that they now GET IT, that investing is a SKILL like any other SKILL, it takes practice and study to figure it out, but it's within reach, like learning how to cook or drive a car.

Everytime that message gets transmitted, it just fills me up.

So. I feel more hopeful about the state of the world, having come from Chicago this past week. I know what my purpose is. Thanks for reading this, because your reading it is helping me do what I'm here to do.
