Yesterday was a very special day--the ribbon cutting event for a brand new intergenerational center named after my beloved Grandmother, Carolyn Edith Cooper Lewis Fugett. who would have been 100 this past year.
I feel so blessed to say that two of my grandmother's 9 siblings are still alive and doing well! Her eldest, my great Aunt Doris and her youngest, my great Aunt Beverly.

At the event yesterday, Aunt Beverly gave this beautiful keynote speech:

I have recently rejoined the board of the Reginald Lewis Foundation, and my aunt's almost four decades of consistent excellent work there has created so much positive energy in the world. I'm proud to serve along side her and my other family members again.
I am also so happy that more and more institutions are understanding the importance of a multigenerational focus for health, wealth and thriving.
The brilliant Mayor of Baltimore also spoke at the event yesterday--The Honorable Brandon M Scott, pictured here alongside longtime former Mayor, the Honorable Kurt Schmoke.

Mayor Scott has done such groundbreaking work reducing violence in Baltimore, and improving the city, expanding initiatives like Safe Streets. It was very cool to meet him for the first time.
Have you heard of an intergenerational center? What do you think of this kind of initiative? Let me know in the comments! and as always, thanks for reading this.
