2nd Anniversary of The Alabama Riverboat Uprising aka Chairteenth

Two years ago this month, a Black man was just trying to do his job, and some drunk white pontoon boaters soon learned that Black people wouldn't tolerate their nonsense that day.

Happy Chairteenth!
This 'Montgomery Brawl' song tickled me:
I posted about this last year, calling it TARU, for its initials.
And here's the update from The Root last year on how the court cases turned out. I like their use of the adjective 'triffling.'
In short, only one pontoon boater got actual jail time. Everyone else got community service, and the woman hit with the folding chair (wisely) declined to press charges.
My intention in posting about this is that the memory of these things makes you smile and gives you strength for the current fight going on in this country. I think it's very important to celebrate and commemorate these moments of resistance. Annual event, anyone?
I hope you are having a restful and nourishing August. It's Black Business month, and you are supporting this Black-owned business by reading this right now. Thank you!
