I attended President Gay's inauguration back in September, along with a group of my classmates and my daughter, and it was one of the best moments of my life. I felt so inspired by this moment, where the first Black President of Harvard take her place on that stage, on a campus where a building named after my father was the first building on the campus ever named for a Black person.
And now this. It's shocking. It's painful. It's discouraging. It's infuriating. The narrative has been so skewed, and totally unfair to her. I'm not going to get into the details, but I just want to say, Claudine Gay did NOT deserve this.
Here are two great pieces that illustrate some of what I'm thinking here:
First, in her own words: New York TImes Opinion by Dr. Claudine Gay
Second from my friend and Harvard classmate, Rutgers professor Zaire Dinzey-Flores: on Black Women Leaders

What actions can you take? I am organizing with a group of classmates to hold Harvard accountable, and to celebrate her tenure nonetheless.
I'll take any ideas you have. Let me know in the comments? And thanks for reading this.
